The International General Assembly of Spiritualists was incorporated in 1936 in Buffalo, New York, by the Rev. Arthur A. Ford (1897-1971), Fred Constantine, and eight other Spiritualist ministers.

The National Council of Churches' data collection was discontinued after the 2012 Yearbook was published, and has been resumed by the Association of Statisticians of American Religious Bodies (ASARB).
