Religious Demography
The country has an area of 150 square miles and a population of 119,000. Christianity is the dominant religion. According to the 2001 population and housing census, the Anglican Church and Pentecostal congregations each consist of approximately 19,000 members, the Methodist, Seventh-day Adventist, and Baptist churches each comprised 11,000 adherents, while 8,000 citizens claim to be Roman Catholic. Other denominations, such as evangelical groups, Church of God, and Jehovah's Witnesses are present in smaller numbers. According to the census, there are approximately 1,500 Rastafarians. Baha'is are present in smaller numbers.2

The U.S. State Department's International Religious Freedom report is submitted to Congress annually by the Department of State in compliance with Section 102(b) of the International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA) of 1998. This report supplements the most recent Human Rights Reports by providing additional detailed information with respect to matters involving international religious freedom. It includes individual country chapters on the status of religious freedom worldwide.
