Constitution Excerpts (clauses that reference religion)2
All persons in the Republic of Croatia shall enjoy rights and freedoms, regardless of race, color, gender, language, religion, political or other conviction, national or social origin, property, birth, education, social status, or other characteristics.
All persons shall be equal before the law.
Individual constitutionally-guaranteed freedoms and rights may be curtailed during a state of war or any clear and present danger to the independence and unity of the Republic of Croatia or in the event of any natural disaster. Such curtailment shall be decided upon by the Croatian Parliament by a two-thirds majority of all representatives or, if the Croatian Parliament is unable to convene, by the President of the Republic.
The extent of such restrictions must be adequate to the nature of the threat, and may not result in the inequality of citizens with respect to race, color, gender, language, religion, national, or social origin.
Even in cases of clear and present danger to the existence of the state, no restrictions may be imposed upon the provisions of this Constitution stipulating the right to life, prohibition of torture, cruel or unusual treatment or punishment, and concerning the legal definitions of criminal offences and punishment, and the freedom of thought, conscience and religion.
Any call for or incitement to war or use of violence, to national, racial or religious hatred, or any form of intolerance is prohibited and punishable by law.
Freedom of conscience and religion and the freedom to demonstrate religious or other convictions shall be guaranteed.
All religious communities shall equal before the law and clearly separate from the state.
Religious communities shall be free, in compliance with law, to publicly conduct religious services, open schools, academies or other institutions, welfare and charitable institutions and to manage them, and they enjoy the protection and assistance of the state in their activities.
Military service and the defense of the Republic of Croatia shall be the duty of every capable citizen of the Republic of Croatia.
Conscientious objection shall be allowed to all those who, based on religious or moral conviction, are not willing to perform military duties in the armed forces. Such persons are obliged to perform other duties as specified by law.

2. The constitutional excerpts shown above are reproduced from the websites given in the "Source" field; the links to these websites were active as of May 2011. Where the constitutional text shown on these websites was provided in a language other than English, this text was translated to English by ARDA staff with assistance from web-based translation utilities such as Google Translate and Yahoo! Babel Fish. Constitutional text was converted to American English where applicable. Constitutional clauses were judged to contain religious content based largely on the standards used in the construction of the Religion and State Constitutions Dataset collected by Jonathan Fox. Emphases were added to the text by ARDA staff to highlight religious content in articles that also contain content that does not pertain to matters of religion. The data on this page were correct to the best of the knowledge of the ARDA as of the date listed in the "Current as of" field shown above.
