Summary

The Global Attitudes Project, Spring 2012, 21 Nation Survey is a cross-national survey of attitudes on global issues. Topics include politics, social issues, globalization, life satisfaction, and religion. Respondents also were surveyed on their views of the role of the United States in the world and on their impressions of well-known leaders (Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Vladimir Putin, etc.)

This survey also includes questions about the Arab Spring and democracy in the Middle East.

The ARDA has added two additional variables to the original data set to enhance the users' experience on our site.

Collection Procedures

The data for the survey were collected using telephone and face-to-face interviews conducted under the direction of Princeton Survey Research Associates International. Telephone interviews were used to collect data in Great Britain, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, and the United States. Face-to-face interviews were used to collect data in Brazil, China, Egypt, Greece, India, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Mexico, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Tunisia, and Turkey.

Sampling Procedures

The target population is adults (18 years and older). All surveys are based on national samples except in China, India, and Pakistan, where the samples were disproportionately urban.
